summery stroll

This sunday I enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the park with the family, and the sun even made an appearance for a change! I love photographing trees, their branches against the sky make such interesting patterns. This nail polish also put me in the summery mood to match the sun (although sadly not the temperature). It's called Wellington Square, but what that has to do with peach is beyond me!

surprise!

H&M silver cardigan, Zara t-shirt and trousers, Topshop necklace and New Look shoes.

I know my birthday is on tuesday, but I've been known to jump the gun! My wonderful friends (I love you guys!) organised a beautiful meal out for my birthday and I was kept in total suspense as I had no idea where we were going! They didn't disappoint!- but it felt strange not having anything to do with the organisation! Also I blogged a while ago about wanting these shoes, and mother came through! I chose a more practical tan colour though (it's a first, usually when fashion is concerned, practically is very far down my list!) So this was the pre-birthday celebration, roll on tuesday!

motto motif

The motif on my new jumper has become my new life motto- "Worrying solves nothing". At a time when stress is just part of my daily routine, it's comforting to say the least! Well my birthday is next week, but my party is tonight! Excitement!! One catch though, my friends are organising it...and I have no idea where it is or what it is! Which makes outfit planning VERY difficult. Well wish me luck- and photos will follow! x

Icon

She has an air of rebellion and cutting edge cool that so many people try to emulate but never quite get right. A slightly predictable choice for a style icon but she is so versatile, from the innocent surrounded by pink bubble bath to her trademark leather jacket and cigarette, she has a look that captures everyone. And I am so jealous of those cheekbones!
She's just so cool! Her waif like figure, messy boyish haircut and quirky impish outfits are inspired. AND she has a handbag named after her, Enough said.

She just oozes French chic and style- I love her simple ensembles, in short I just want to be her!

I love having style icons to take inspiration from and I can definitely see elements of their style in my own, but I ultimately use them to create my own style!
Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

style inspirations

Trend 1: Sports Luxe.
Just to clarify, I am not a sporty person. I'm more of a heels rather that trainers girl. But that doesn't mean I don't love the fabrics, cuts and fun accessories this trend entails!
Trend 2: Denim.
Double, patterned, colored, shirts, jackets- I'm obssessed!
 Trend 3: Backpacks.
They are just so cute! And so practical too, perfect for those who bring EVERYTHING with them, like moi, and leaves hands free for..more shopping bags?
Trend 4: Floral trousers.
Wear them with simple basics in neutral colours and let your trousers do the talking. Or clash your prints if you're feeling brave, although some sunglasses may be required!
Trend 5: Leather jacket.
I STILL haven't got one yet- what have I been doing?! Anyway, wear it as a compliment to a chic black outfit as above or use it to toughen up the floral blooms that are everywhere this season.
Trand 6: Maxi Skirts.
Wear now with boots and belted with a jumper in this horribly chilly weather. When (if) it warms up wear with a luxe t-shirt and sandals or a cropped bra top on holiday with a high-waisted skirt and tons of necklaces to finish it off.

This is just some of the street style that I have been taking inspiration from and all these and more can be found here . Hope your monday wasn't too bad!

the story continues

You may remember the story Iboni and Imenand from the novel I started to write. Well I posted a few extracts on here a while ago and I have continued to write in my spare moments (which were few and far between believe me!) and I'm going to be posting some more extracts over the next few days! Oh and here is one of the pictures that inspired me to base the story in the enchanting land of Egypt. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Iboni
Annoyance seems to be my dominant expression these days, something my brutally honest, mischievous and blissfully ignorant best friend informed me of regularly.
“So there isn’t even one man at the wonderful little soiree that catches your eye?” Neti exclaimed incredulously as she smiled flirtatiously at a passing waiter.
“Yes well it seems that you are doing enough flirting for the both of us”, I snapped at her.
She brushed the slight off and continued as if nothing had happened, which is how she deals with most things in life. “You need to live a bit Ib, I mean, you look sensational! Why not make the most of it?” She plucked a drink off a passing tray and met the eyes of yet another man across the room. This is how Neti’s simplistic outlook works. To her, life is one big party and time passes in men or a change in venue. Anything that does not involve fun is time wasted in her opinion. I realize that this does not portray Neti in a very good light but it is these qualities that endear her to be my closest confidant. When I’m with her I don’t to worry about the responsibility of being the king’s daughter and the constant expectation that comes with it. If even for a couple of hours I can live life Neti’s way and enjoy myself for a change. She is like a Labrador, exceptionally loyal but easily distracted. She is not remarkably striking, with her slim hips, mysterious grey eyes and chipped tooth. But she has transcendent glow that entices the eye. She has an air of promise that hints of exciting and alluring things that have happened in her past and were still to come. As a result men found it hard to take their eyes off her. Neti was still babbling on about some trivial matter than I’m sure was of a great importance to her, but my mind was still on that flippant remark she made earlier…
My mind mulled over her words. Why wasn’t there anyone here that I wanted? There were handsome men, smart men, funny men, rich men- and still, nothing. It was as if they weren’t there, like I just saw through them rather than at them. For some unfathomable reason some were interested in me but I always turned them down. “Why?” I murmured.
Neti stopped talking and looked at me sharply, “You weren’t even listening to me were you?”
“Of course I was dear, that dress does nothing for Isabelle at all”, I hastily added. Satisfied, she moves on. But I couldn’t. My eyes raked the room in a wide arc and I caught a glimpse of a man in a workers uniform slipping out the door carrying some crates. My heart squeezed convulsively and broke into a sprint as I instinctively recognized his strong back and broad shoulders. Enough is enough. I grabbed a drink from a passing waiter, tipped back my head and downed the lot. I turned to Neti’s astonished but wickedly mischievous face and curved my still wet lips into a smile. “Let’s go”, I whispered impishly with a wink and turned my back on his retreating figure to sashay into the swaying crowd…
*
“Ugh”, I groaned as I rolled over to look at the clock beside my bed. The hands pointed at one thirty in the afternoon and the “ticking” noise was like drum beat against my skull. Could I really have slept all this time? I tried to sit up but the throbbing pain above my left eye caused me to flop back down onto the pillows in defeat.
“How does Neti do this every night?” I mumbled. I was not usually a drinker but last night I needed a distraction and now I was paying for it.
“How could I let him do this to me?!” I groaned into my pillow. My mouth felt like sandpaper and my hair was plastered limply across my forehead. I lay on my back and stared at the patterns in the plaster on the ceiling. I hauled myself out of bed to try and make myself at least presentable for lunch with my family, no matter how rotten I felt. As I moved to my wardrobe I found myself thinking of him...

breakfast weakness

Me and my friends have have promised each other that we will get fit this year. Just like we have promised each other to get fit every year. So I began the day with fresh fruit and greek yoghurt, and felt very proud. But then proceeded on to the french toast. And then it would just be rude not to eat the biscuit that the nice waiter gave me with my latte. Oh well, I tried didn't I?

garden musings

“If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”
~E.B White
A little cryptic I know but here are some pictures of my absolute DREAM garden to lighten the mood. I must have sat in there for about half an hour soaking up it's prettiness, if only I could have brought it home with me!

Amsterdam photodiary

Well that was my trip away and now I am back. And now that I've got the travel bug I just want to keep going! The Dutch flower fields were breathtaking and as you can see by the sheer quantity of photos that I was so inspired by them. My daily cake intake, a necessity- as were my lattes that kept the cold at bay! My hotel was so luxurious-and so unexpected! Chandeliers, huge floral arrangements and handsome waiters, what more could you wish for?!
Hope you are having a great Easter!
