New Year's Resolutions..maybe!

1. Plan a trip to Paris with friends. A long weekend of sightseeing, french style et beaucoup des patisseries! Bon appetit!

2011 is drawing to a close but 2012 is right around the corner. Every year I seem to make resolutions with good intentions but after January hits, they seem to get chewed up by my everyday routine and forgotten about! So maybe my first resolution should be to keep the rest of them! This year I am spending New Year's Eve in with my family to celebrate the coming year with the people I care about the most. I haven't made a definitive list of resolutions yet, but here are some ideas I had thought about. Hope you have had a great year and with an even better one to come! x

2. Wear more hats. I have my eye on a fur hat from asos that will hopefully be making it's way into my wardrobe very soon!

3. Eat less of these. Well maybe one or two wouldn't hurt...

4. Send a hand written letter. Recieving a letter that someone has taken the time out of their busy lives to write makes whatever they have to say so much more special. Also there is something about getting a postcard that seems so romantic. Imagine writing a postcard whilst sitting at a street side Parisian cafe, wearing dark sunglasses and sipping a cafe au lait. Quelle belle!

5. Finally, play the piano more often. This one might sound a bit odd but I have been going to piano lessons for years but have never really used the skill to it's full potential. It is often said that music is food for the soul. I can't think of anything more glorious than being able to play a piece of music spontaneously to a crowd of people and in doing so, having the ability to make them either laugh or cry. Now that's true magic.

It's warm inside

Next jeans, Topshop t-shirt, necklace and ring, New Look faux-fur gilet and River Island shoes.

Thursday's an odd sort of day isn't it? You feel as though you need a reward just for getting past the mid-point of the week but it's too early to blame any laziness or tiredness on it being Friday. So to reward myself I snuggled up in my wonderfully warm gilet to read a good book with a mug of hot chocolate. Perfect.

Present time!

An aptly named make-up bag with cutest pattern, ever.

Florence and the Machine- one word, beautiful.

Thanks Auntie Gayle for the beautiful silver Pandora bracelet with the promise of a new charm every year!
What girl could wish for more?

Lastly, a sneaky little Christmas present to myself- they were on sale, how could I resist?

I know, I'm spoilt rotten! I'm going to spend the next few days making the most of my new things, meeting up with friends, watching movies and taking time out, before life kicks in again! New Year is right around the corner, and who knows what that will bring. For me, exams. Sigh. So let's live in the moment, enjoy the present and deal with what life throws at us one day at a time.

And all too soon it was over...

One of the many christmas cards fighting for space on our mantle place and some sparkly, festive ribbon.

A pretty heart-shaped bauble from our adventure to Austria a few summers ago.

Mmmm...one was never going to be enough. Mini chocolate, strawberry and vanilla macaroons, the ultimate indulgence.

Fairy lights can truly make, anything look magical.

5 days before Christmas, the dinner was under control, presents had been bought and wrapped and at that time, it was probably the most relaxed christmas ever to occur in the Bann household. Until we got the call that we should now expect 10 people for Christmas dinner. A peaceful day now seemed as likely as a funny cracker joke. But we got through it all pretty smoothly. (Well I forgot to write my Christmas cards, but no one's perfect, right?) Life's unpredictable, but that's what keeps it interesting. Although I plan not to do ANYTHING stress inducing this week! Hope you had a good one!

First Impressions

Salut! Je m'appelle Danie B. By reading that you probably think I'm french, but alas, nothing as contintental as that. (Although I am told I should have been a Parisian, which I'm not complaining about!) I'm not sure how to start a blog, this being my first. But I feel the need to introduce myself before I start sharing my life with you! Fashion and style are my life- ok that's a bit dramatic, but fashion defines who I am. In my blog you will find pictures and tales of my passions. Of beauty, elegance, happiness, fashion, love and grace. This is a place to appreciate what we have right in front of us and how to find beauty in the strangest of places. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
